I am the first to admit about my obsessions with ceramics. My Nana's Crown Lynn swan was always my favourite thing when I was younger. I used to cut all sorts of things out of the garden to place in it. I purchased my first swan almost 15 years to ago, which sits proudly on my china cabinet right next to Nana's swan.

In store I have always sold the odd item of Crown Lynn & also as above 'Blue Mountain Pottery' if I come across them.

We have 4 swans in store at the moment & the colours are beautiful.

happy 2011, can't believe it was eleven years ago we were camping with friends in a very remote part of NZ, to celebrate the new millemium, wondering whether Y2K had caused the world to go into a spin. We had simple tents, lots of food & beverage & no children.

Eleven years on we still love camping. We now have our 2 gorgeous boys, still take lots of food & beverage, push bikes for all, portable toilet & the kitchen sink, All in our wonderful little caravan. Yes, 3 years ago we purchased our little gem on wheels & have never looked back. Yesterday we got back from our wee summer trip. There was lots of sun, swimming, biking & new memories made. I just love it. So I though I would celebrate the good old kiwi summer with some classic caravan photos.

Today I went & paid a visit to the studio of the lovely Victoria from FreeRange Baby. It is always a pleasure to enter her world where she creates the most delicious childrens wear. The walls are lined in shelves full of bundles of beautiful fabrics, from vintage to retro, to beautiful finds from her recent visit to Japan. There are loads of hangers with the most gorgeous outfits. I am happy to say I left with a substantial amount of stock to fill the racks at Woodstock. The FreeRange Cranes are sooo cool & are all handmade, each one different using great fabric combinations. We have Three sizes, plus the Crane Chain which is 3 small cranes on one tie. Wedding flowers are a bit of a favourite for me. I love how flowers can bring everything together to form a perfect theme or an understated elegance. We have had the pleasure of providing flowers to some wonderful people this past wedding season. We have also had the pleasure of working with some wonderful local photographers who have made our flowers look quite wonderful.

I feel I haven't talked about flowers for a while. Flowers are high on my love list & I'm surrounded by them almost everyday, which I think I sometimes take for granted.

I love being a florist, the varieties colours & textures of the flowers we have available here in New Zealand is outstanding & a credit to our many growers spread throughout the country.I do like to keep myself updated on what is happening in the flower world overseas & have found some very like minded flower lovers. If I had the choice I would be sitting at my sewing machine whipping up all sorts of delights 24/7, but alas, children, work, life take up 90% of my time. So for the 10% I have to sew I love to be inspired.

We have some new fabrics in store, which can only inspire, they are sooooo devine it's not funny.

Here's a peak The ECHINO range of fabrics are by the talented Japanese designer Etsuko Furuya. The colours & graphics in her designs are truly amazing. 55% linen 45% cotton, they are a lovely wieght & drape beautifully. Great for bag making, clothing or homewares (pictured "Bird Song").

KOKKA fabrics are fun & a little bit different. Beautiful weight (pictured "Little Red").

HEATHER ROSS far far away. A fairy tale world of colour & delight. The fabric is a beautifully soft 100% double gauze, perfect for clothing& quilting.

HAPPY NEW YEAR. What a fun Christmas break we have all had. My family arrived on the doorstep of our friends farm up north for a week. We had a wonderful time especially the boys running around, moving calves, swimming in the river, collecting eggs & lots of horse riding.

Cathy went to Waiheke Island to visit family, Rachel to Taranaki, Vidette to the Manawatu.

it is always so special to spend time with family & friends without the pressures of work.

But alas we are back, but very much looking forward to 2010. We have started the year with lots of weddings. All different & beautiful.

We also have new things arriving daily from old favourites to some new & exciting products, which I will keep updated on the blog & web (I know, still have a few christmas things to change).

Yay for Springtime. 1st September marks the first day of spring. Unfortunately I spent my first day of Spring in bed with the flu, so I am a bit late with my celebrations. I love everything about this time of year. The days are getting longer, which gives me a little more time in the garden or extra time to burn some of the endless energy my two boys have. It is also a wonderful time for flowers. Delicate ones like Anemone, Ranunculus, helebore or the mighty Waratah plus the Kowhai are in bloom which are quiet special along with the Tui's that come to visit. In store we have some beautiful varieties of flowers & foliages coming in from our local growers & from around NZ. The shop is just ooozing loveliness & ofcourse springtime.

The MAGNOLIA'S are beginning to flower. I just think these are the most beautiful flowers. Perfect in bud & when the blooms apear they are quite spectacular. We have cut branches available in store as well as flowering Japonica Blossum & Pussy Willow. All lovely in a vase on there own or mix with other seasonal blooms & have some fun.

This Saturday, 15 August is the 40 year anniversary of the 1969 woodstock festival.

For those of you who never made it to the original gig, I have come up with a few things that we at Woodstock Wellington have in common with Woodstock 1969.

-there is no shortage of flower power in store.

-we feel stongly about world peace.

-we have plenty of love & happiness to give.

-we have a big love of music. -we love children & animals.

-We haven't quite made the history books, but still trying.

Early Saturday morning our beloved Maranui Surf club had a fire. Not only is the surf club a big part of our family, with many Sundays spent on the beach watching our young beat the elements with boogie board in hand. There is also a significant 100 year history that makes it so special. Along with the clubrooms there was also a great deal of damage done to the cafe upstairs. Maranui cafe is also a big part of our lives with many coffees & hot chocolates consumed over the years, along with many happy family gatherings, always with excellent food & wonderful staff. Had a great day yesterday with lots of lovely people coming in to store & buying up some of our lovely fabrics, & who can blame them. They are just so gorgeous. Wonderful bright colours with fantastic designs, it's hard to have a favourite. I do have a favourite though which is strange for me as I usually just LOVE them all. Heather Bailey's Paisley is just yummy. Look forward to seeing photos from our clever customers on what they have made.

Aaaah Spring flowers, there's something very uplifting about them. Makes the early morning journey to the flower markets worth while & the cold a little more bearable. Still seems strange though that they come out in winter. But I'm not complaining. To accompany these little gems are Freesia, Iris, Earlicheer, Sol d or, Tulips & Iris. Love them!

My name is Vanessa, I am the owner of Woodstock Florist, partner to Wayne & Mum to my two gorgeous boys Ben & Oskar.

I'm feeling quite proud of myself for finally working out how to set up a blog site (wasn't that hard really).

It is very exciting for me to be able now to share with you all, all the things I love. That being flowers, fabrics, books, crafts, sewing, knitting, furniture Oooh & the list goes on.

At woodstock we stock the freshest of flowers, divine fabrics from AMY BUTLER, HEATHER BAILEY, ERIN McMORRIS, a nice wee range of delicious inspirng books by CATH KIDSON, AMY BUTLER, JANE PACKER to name a few.

The store also stocks a selection of childrens tshirts, handmade & quirky toys, ceramics, glassware, hand printed cushions, all New Zealand made I'm proud to say (with the odd imported bits, which is hard to avoid).
